Daily Devotion: Why You Must Avoid Lying

The Narrow Path
Daily devotion
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
A short story
– John was in debt, and he wanted money badly, for him to have it he decided to create a fake story to convince his older brother who was supposed to bless him with the money, but his brother didn’t buy the lie deep in his heart he sensed John’s lies, but he didn’t tell him about his lies because he was not sure whether John was lying or not. John didn’t take the refusal of his brother to help him lightly, the devil made him think that his brothers’ Love was fake, he made him think that if his lies were true, his brother was incapable of helping him, the devil manipulated the situation and made him believe his lies and gave him a conclusion that will later affect John’s relationship with his brother. The relationship of John with the devil developed roots from that day, John continued to create lies and believed his lies, making him a lier who believed his lies until people lost faith in him, to him, he was not wrong, but he thought these people hated him, and he hated them back because many didn’t believe his lies.
Two Lessons
1. Don’t convince a person to help you with a lie
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
– Don’t give the devil a room to create in you a fake person, never allow desperation to move you to tell lies because in so doing you will damage your integrity if those lies are exposed, people won’t trust you, you will break your life with lies. God hate lies, so try certainly not to gain peoples affection through lies because you will also gain their hate and displeasure through your own lie.
Speak the truth
Always
2. Don’t believe your lies like John
– When lies become part of you, you will even believe your lies, if people don’t buy your lies the devil will manipulate your mind causing you to imagine those lies as the truth hence creating enmity with people around you. I have seen people getting angry at you simply because you didn’t buy their lies, especially in relationships, if you don’t buy the lies of your partner they will assume you don’t trust them. So in relationships be always truthful, never manipulate your partner but always be truthful because even a small lie can damage trust in a good a relationship.
Prayer point
1. LORD, CONTROL MY TONGUE, deliver me from lying lips.
