As the nation continues to celebrate women’s month, Gugulethu Dlodlo deserves recognition for uplifting a number of underpriviledged children in the rural communities.
Gugulethu Dlodlo is a social entrepreneur with vast experiences in advocacy. She is a graduate of Language and communication from Lupane State University, currently doing her Masters virtually in lnternational Relations at Sapienza University of Rome. A seasoned diplomat, an advocate for education of women and girls on sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
Dlodlo is the Executive Director of lgugulethu Foundation, a non profit organization that focuses on eradicating poverty to women and girls in rural communities of Matebeleland South. Her organisation was launchef in 2022 June, but has already launched several charity events and also been nominated for the most lmpactful Charity Organisation of the year under Ekitu Network. ln less than a year she has been able to impact over thousands+ women and girls in orphanages around Bulawayo, Plumtree rural schools and lnsiza district.
The Foundation has also partnered with organisations in different African countries such as The Girls Pride Initiative (Nigeria),The BUTA lnitiative (Nigeria), Girlslnc (Zambia), Chadala (Kenya) and RainbowSpaces.
She is currently a pioneer Thematic Lead (Health) at the Queens commonwealth Trust Network. She is a technical writer and tackles more on issues that deal with women at ZBC’s l tell stories program. She also conducts research into various issues that affects women and presents it at conferences.
Dlodlo is a receipient of “Prize for community Action” 2021, an award she received when she was in Nigeria for the Red Flag conference. She loves to travel to different countries in Africa opportunistically to trade in emerging markets and the likes. Reading is what she enjoys the most and engaging with youths, especially women.
