A tragic murder in the Eastern Cape has taken a chilling turn after it emerged that the victim had warned loved ones she feared for her life just days before her death.

Thirty-year-old businesswoman Zovuyo Mbana reportedly sent a series of distressing messages to friends and family on March 25, expressing growing fear and suspicion about her safety.
According to her brother, Sikhusele Mbana, she even shared her live location via WhatsApp while heading to what she believed was a business meeting—something he said was completely out of character.
Her location reportedly pinged in areas including Amalinda and Mdantsane, raising alarm among those close to her. In one of her final communications, she indicated she did not trust where she was being taken, heightening concerns that she may have sensed imminent danger.
Mbana, who co-owned a salon, had last been seen leaving Malcomess Park in Southernwood with a colleague. When she failed to return home, a missing persons case was opened, and her family began searching for her.
Days later, the worst fears of her loved ones were confirmed. Her body was discovered on Monday along the N6 near Kwetyana village, close to East London, in what police are treating as a brutal killing.
The case has since led to multiple arrests. Four individuals—including a school principal—appeared in court facing serious charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and defeating the ends of justice.
Her brother believes the messages she sent before her death show she was deeply uneasy and possibly aware that something was wrong. He noted that sharing her live location was unusual behavior, reinforcing the idea that she felt threatened in her final hours.
The killing has once again highlighted the ongoing crisis of violence against women in South Africa, with many cases showing similar patterns—where victims express fear before their deaths but are unable to escape danger in time.
Investigations into Mbana’s murder are ongoing, as her family seeks justice and answers for the events leading up to her death.
