A newly married man identified on social media as Kevin Chai has become an object of sympathy following the circulation of private footage allegedly showing his wife with popular South African dancer Limpopo Boy.
According to unverified posts circulating online, someone allegedly warned Kevin several months ago about his wife’s behaviour and advised him to reconsider the relationship. Kevin reportedly rejected the warning and defended the woman, insisting that people did not know her the way he did.
Now, social media users claim the very red flags he dismissed have returned to haunt him publicly.
“Someone warned her husband Kevin Chai a few months ago about his newly married wife’s behaviour, but he chose to defend her and said she was different. Now look where we are,” one widely shared post claimed.
Neither Kevin nor the woman has publicly verified the alleged earlier warning. It also remains unclear whether the names and accounts being shared online genuinely belong to the people connected to the footage.

As the scandal unfolded, one commentator used a controversial zebra analogy to describe the situation.
“A zebra can never be a domestic animal, no matter how beautiful it is,” the post read. “You enjoy the zebra in the bush and leave it there for others to enjoy. You do not try to bring it home.”
The remark quickly gained attention, with some users arguing that Kevin had allegedly ignored obvious signs because he was deeply in love. Others rejected the comparison as cruel, misogynistic and unfair, saying a woman should not be dehumanised because of unverified accusations about her past.
The debate soon shifted from the alleged affair to a broader discussion about relationships. Some people argued that love can cause someone to overlook warnings, while others questioned whether rumours about a partner’s past should ever be treated as proof of future behaviour.

The controversy began when intimate footage allegedly featuring dancer Robert Matome Thoka, popularly known as Limpopo Boy, surfaced online.
Social media speculation suggested that the woman appearing in the footage was recently married and may have known Limpopo Boy before her wedding. However, her marital status, identity and alleged relationship with the entertainer have not been independently confirmed.

Limpopo Boy’s management condemned the leak, describing the footage as stolen private content that had been distributed without consent. His team said it was working with cybersecurity specialists, lawyers and online platforms to establish the source of the breach and remove copies from the internet.

Alleged messages raise more questions
An unverified screenshot of a Messenger conversation attributed to Limpopo Boy later added fuel to the controversy.
When confronted about the matter, the account appearing to belong to the dancer allegedly responded: “But she wanted it, was I supposed to deny?”
The account later reportedly told the other person to stop judging him. However, the exchange has not been authenticated, and it does not establish the woman’s identity, confirm that she was married or explain why the encounter was allegedly recorded.
Social media users nevertheless interpreted the messages as an admission, with many turning their attention to the woman’s husband.
Some claimed she had previously sent disappearing “view once” content to other people, suggesting there had always been warning signs. No reliable evidence has been produced to substantiate that allegation.
Internet turns private pain into entertainment
Although many users expressed sympathy for Kevin, others transformed the alleged betrayal into jokes, memes and explicit commentary. The most invasive posts encouraged people to search for and watch previously unseen private recordings allegedly involving the woman.
Sharing or promoting intimate material without the subject’s permission, however, is a serious violation of privacy and may carry legal consequences. The existence of a recording does not mean those appearing in it consented to its public distribution.
What is certain is that someone’s deeply personal crisis has become entertainment for thousands of strangers—and once private footage enters the internet, the damage can extend far beyond the original scandal.
