Swartland Municipality Opens Applications for Sondeza Afri-Youth Camp Youth Worker Posts

The Swartland Municipality has announced vacancies for 11 Youth Worker positions at the upcoming Sondeza Afri-Youth Camp 2025, set to take place at Ganzekraal on the West Coast. The municipality is seeking energetic and committed young leaders to play a key role in guiding and supporting learners during the camp.

Successful applicants will receive a stipend of R1,200, along with cell phone airtime. Accommodation and meals will be provided at no cost for the duration of the camp.

Celebrating 20 Years of Leadership Development

The Sondeza Afri-Youth Camp, which marks its 20th anniversary in 2025, continues to be a flagship programme for youth empowerment in the region. The camp will bring together 50 Grade 10 and 11 learners from West Coast schools and participants from international countries, offering a platform for leadership development, cultural exchange, and personal growth.

The camp will run from 2 to 12 December 2025, with compulsory training sessions scheduled for 14 and 15 November 2025 in Malmesbury.

Requirements for Applicants

Candidates must hold at least a Grade 12 qualification with proven youth work experience after matric. A Degree or Diploma in Education, Social Sciences, or Youth Work will be considered an added advantage. Applicants should be South African citizens between the ages of 22 and 28.

Additional requirements include:

  • Physical fitness at a medium level.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Willingness to travel to Malmesbury for training.
  • Prior involvement in youth development or community projects.
  • A SAPS Name Clearance Certificate, to be submitted either with the application or at the interview stage, and finalized before the camp.

Preference will be given to those who have previously participated in Sondeza Youth Camps.
