Many South Africans were left emotional after seeing the touching story of young graduate Nokuthula Dlamini, who revealed that she attended her graduation ceremony without asking her struggling mother to buy her a new dress.
The 24-year-old recently graduated from University of KwaZulu-Natal with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Sociology. Her achievement quickly captured attention online, not only because of her academic success but also because of her humility and the sacrifices behind her journey.
Originally from Pietermaritzburg, Nokuthula’s road to graduation was far from easy. As an only child raised in difficult financial circumstances, she often faced challenges while trying to complete her studies. Nokuthula added that the encouragement from strangers made her feel as though her prayers had finally been answered after years of struggle and uncertainty.
