πŸ’” Skeem Saam Child Star Lethabo Matsetela Attacked by Fans at Kiddies Festival

What was meant to be a fun-filled Spring Kiddies Festival at Jazzview Lifestyle on Saturday turned into a nightmare for Skeem Saam child actor Lethabo Matsetela. The 11-year-old, loved for his role as Pitsi Maputla on SABC1’s hit soapie, was left shaken after being attacked by a group of older fans.

From Entertainment to Chaos

Lethabo had been booked to perform alongside other young stars, including DJ Arch Junior, to entertain families and children at the event. But instead of cheers and applause, the actor found himself confronted by angry fans who accused him of being “rude and disrespectful” to his on-screen parents, Mapitsi (Mogau Paulina) and T’Bose (Hungani Ndlovu).

The shocking incident forced organizers to cut his appearance short. His management team quickly stepped in and rushed him home after he began panicking and feeling unsafe.

Manager Sets the Record Straight

His manager later took to the young actor’s official Facebook fan page to clarify what had happened. He stressed that Lethabo is not Pitsi, but a child actor simply playing a scripted role.

“Lethabo must deliver what the directors wrote on his script. He’s not allowed to change anything. If he doesn’t follow the script, he could lose his job. Fans must separate the actor from the character,” the manager explained.

The post urged fans to stop abusing young actors for storylines they have no control over, asking the public to protect Lethabo so he can continue to grow and bring joy to screens.

A Disturbing Pattern

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Skeem Saam actors have been attacked by fans. Melita Monama was once insulted and labelled a “homewrecker” for her role, while Lelo Mthiyane was hounded by viewers demanding she “bring back Zamokuhle.”

Now, young Lethabo has faced the same treatment — a chilling reminder that some viewers are still struggling to separate fiction from reality.

For now, the actor is safe at home, but his ordeal has sparked outrage and renewed calls for fans to remember one thing: what happens on screen is acting, not real life.
