WATCH VIDEO BELOW: 10 Killed, 11 Injured in Lwandle Shisanyama Shooting as Police Launch Manhunt

Police in the Western Cape have launched a major manhunt after 10 people were killed and 11 others injured in a shooting at a shisanyama in Lwandle during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The deadly attack happened at around 1:46am when armed men allegedly entered the entertainment venue, where patrons were eating and socialising, before opening fire.

According to police, five victims died at the scene, while another five later succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to medical facilities.

Eleven other people were wounded in the shooting and remain under medical care.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi said a multidisciplinary investigative team, led by serious violent crime detectives, had been established to track down those responsible.

“Official police reports indicate that gunmen entered an entertainment place that also sells braaied meat (shisanyama) at approximately 01:46 and shot at patrons,” police said.

Lwandle police have opened murder and attempted murder cases as detectives work to establish what led to the attack and identify the suspects.

No arrests have been made so far.

Dyantyi said detectives were working around the clock to locate the perpetrators, while additional police deployments had been made in the area following the shooting.

The identities of the 10 people who died have not yet been released, with police saying their names will only be made public after their next of kin have been notified.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown at this stage.

The Lwandle massacre was followed by several other deadly shooting incidents elsewhere in the Western Cape over the weekend.

Four killed in Khayelitsha shooting

Four people were also shot dead in Site C, Khayelitsha, on Saturday night.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut said officers responded to reports of a shooting and found two victims dead inside a stationary vehicle.

A third victim was found lying next to the vehicle, while a fourth man was rushed to a medical facility but died from his gunshot wounds shortly after arrival.

“All four victims sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to their injuries,” Traut said.

Police have not established a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.

Detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and working to identify those responsible.

Two killed in Milnerton

Meanwhile, two men were shot and killed and another person was wounded in a separate shooting in Milnerton.

Police were called to Freedom Street in Joe Slovo Park following reports of gunfire.

Two victims were found dead, while another man was injured and taken for medical treatment.

No arrests have been made in connection with the Milnerton shooting.

Police said the motive remains under investigation as detectives work to establish what happened and determine who was behind the attack.

The series of shootings has prompted increased police deployments in affected areas as investigators continue working to establish whether the incidents are connected or unrelated.
