Ama Qamata Mourns the Passing of Her Father

Talented actress Ama Qamata, known for her roles in Gomora and Netflix’s Blood & Water, announced on 31 August 2025 that her father, Marcus, has passed away. Sharing her grief on Instagram, Qamata wrote, “In this moment, nothing feels real; life will never be the same again. I love you, Marcus, and I wish I had the opportunity to tell you that one more time; you were the best dad in the entire world. Rest in eternal peace, papa, until we meet again🤍.”

Tributes poured in from industry colleagues and fans alike. Gail Mabalane commented, “I’m so, so sorry, Ama. 😢💔 I am praying for you and the family. God is close to the brokenhearted. I love you.❤️.” Nomzamo Mbatha added, “Nxese (I’m sorry), Ama.❤️‍🩹May angels assigned to your healing and comfort, rush to you and your family’s side with the peace of heaven and God’s love. Phephisani 🕊️.”

The cause of Marcus Qamata’s death has not been disclosed. Fans and colleagues continue to offer messages of love and support, highlighting the strong sense of community and solidarity within the South African entertainment industry during this difficult time for the actress and her family.

Job Purpose:
The Director: Management Accounting will provide leadership and oversee full management accounting services in line with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Financial Accounting or related NQF 7 qualification (SAQA-recognised).
  • Minimum 5 years’ middle or senior management experience.
  • Successful completion of the SMS Pre-Entry Certificate from the National School of Government.
  • Valid Code B (08) driver’s licence.
  • Strong knowledge of PFMA, PPPFA, Treasury Regulations, auditing standards, and public service legislation.
  • Competency in BAS, PERSAL, Vulindlela, and other financial systems.
  • Leadership, project management, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee accounting functions to ensure financial planning, budgeting, and expenditure control.
  • Strengthen internal controls and compliance with legislation.
  • Improve revenue and debt collection processes.
  • Drive risk management, audit improvements, and year-end coordination.
  • Support the CFO in developing and implementing financial policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Environmental Health (NQF 6).
  • Completion of one-year community service as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as an Environmental Health Practitioner.

Grade-Based Experience:

  • Grade 1: No experience required.
  • Grade 2: Minimum 10 years post-registration.
  • Grade 3: Minimum 20 years post-registration.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Environmental Health programmes, National Health Act, and related prescripts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Key Duties:

  • Monitor healthcare waste management.
  • Assist in pest control, water monitoring, and hygiene inspections.
  • Support mortuary services for safe disposal.
  • Conduct health and hygiene awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure compliance in baggage, cargo, and postal inspections.
  • Provide disease control (excluding immunisation).
  • Compile health statistics and reports.
