13-YEAR-OLD BOY SHOT DEAD

A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot just outside his home in Amoutana, KwaZulu-Natal. Reports indicate that the boy was conversing with his friends in the yard when three men dressed in balaclavas confronted them.

According to witnesses, the men began assaulting the boy and his friends while asking about the whereabouts of a gun the boy had been seen with. They subsequently shot the boy before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Paramedics and the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the boy with gunshot wounds to the back of his neck, above his left eye, and on his left hand. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased was a Grade 6 student at Kwaginga Primary School.

TEEN MOM ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY SHOOTING AND KILLING ONE-YEAR-OLD

In other news, a teen mother has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing her one-year-old son in J section, Umlazi. According to reports, the mother was sweeping the yard and had left her son alone in the house when a gunshot rang out.

KwaZulu-Natal Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda stated that the mother initially told police she was outside when she heard the gunshot. She claimed that when she went inside to investigate, she found her son lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head and saw no one leaving the house.

However, Netshiunda noted that the mother’s story didn’t add up. Police investigations have found contrasting information, suspecting that the mother was playing with a gun when a bullet accidentally went off and killed her son. Investigations are ongoing.

FIVE-YEAR-OLD MURDERED IN ALLEGED GANG VIOLENCE

A five-year-old child was shot and killed in an incident of alleged gang violence in Manenberg, Cape Town. Two other women were also injured in the shooting.

The father of the deceased, Roman Bezuidenhout, described the events following his son’s shooting. He explained that he was by his son’s side when the ambulance arrived, and they tried to resuscitate him.

The child was rushed to the emergency room and then to the ICU, where he was operated on to remove the bullet. However, due to extensive damage causing severe brain swelling, the child was later declared brain-dead, and his parents decided to take him off life-support.

The child’s mother, Mishka Abrahams, expressed her wish for the suspects to be caught and punished, stating, “We are hoping they won’t get bail. They must be punished, it’s a big loss for us. We are going through hell.”
