August 28, 2025 – The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering 38 twelve-month internship positions within its Visible Policing and Operations division, starting in 2025. These internships, aligned with South Africa’s National Human Resource Development and Skills Development Strategies, provide unemployed graduates and students with practical experience in fields like finance, human resources, supply chain management, and policing support.

Programme Overview
The SAPS internships are designed for South African citizens eager to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement and administrative roles. The programme includes Graduate Internships for those with tertiary qualifications and Student Internships for those needing practical experience for their studies.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be South African citizens with a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or NCV Level 4, have no criminal record, and be unemployed with no prior experience in the advertised field or relevant internships.
Proof of residential address in the province of the post is required. Candidates may apply for up to three positions, using separate application forms for each reference number. Graduate Interns need a tertiary qualification with results, while Student Interns require a letter from their institution (not older than two years).

Supply Chain Management roles (VPO INT 04/2024, 10/2024, 13/2024, 16/2024, 19/2024, 32/2024) in Pretoria, Mpumalanga, and airports require a Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Transport Management.
Human Resource Management internships (VPO INT 07/2024, 15/2024, 17/2024, 33/2024) in Pretoria and Cape Town, plus Student Interns (VPO INT 08/2024, 11/2024, 20/2024) in Pretoria, Mpumalanga, and Cape Town, require a Diploma/Degree or N6 Certificate in HR or Public Management.
Financial Student Interns (VPO INT 09/2024, 12/2024) in Pretoria and Mpumalanga need an N6 Certificate in Financial or Public Management. Specialized roles in Pretoria’s Mid-City Building include Social Crime Prevention (VPO INT 24/2024–27/2024) requiring qualifications in Youth Development, Public Relations, Criminology, or Social Sciences, and Pro-active Policing roles (VPO INT 28/2024–31/2024) needing Policing, Criminology, or IT qualifications.
Additional roles cover Firearms Compliance (VPO INT 21/2024–23/2024), Rapid Rail Policing (VPO INT 35/2024–38/2024), and K9 Services, each with specific Diploma/Degree requirements.
