The memorial service of veteran actress Nandi Nyembe, held at the Market Theatre on Thursday, was meant to honour her five-decade career. Mvelase’s frustration echoed revelations that Nyembe never received the financial aid promised by McKenzie earlier this year, despite a public pledge after a viral video highlighted her struggles. The unfulfilled promise cast a shadow over the memorial, reinforcing her call for systemic change.
