WATCH: Foreign nationals sleep in the cold ‘for their safety’!

Fear and uncertainty have gripped a group of foreign nationals in Durban after violent tensions reportedly forced many of them to spend cold nights sleeping outdoors for their own safety.

According to reports, several foreign nationals have been left terrified following incidents of unrest and threats in parts of the city. Some said they no longer feel safe returning to their homes and businesses, choosing instead to sleep in open areas while closely watching over one another through the night.

Videos circulating online show men, women, and children wrapped in blankets and huddled together in the cold as they try to protect themselves from possible attacks. The heartbreaking scenes have sparked concern among residents and social media users.

Community members say the situation escalated after accusations linked to crime and tensions between locals and foreign nationals. Some shops allegedly belonging to foreign nationals were targeted during the chaos, forcing many families to flee their homes in fear.

Police in Durban have since stepped in to monitor the situation and calm tensions before violence escalates further. Authorities reportedly met with community leaders and representatives from foreign national groups in an effort to restore peace and prevent more attacks.

Some of the affected individuals said they feel abandoned and are pleading for protection, saying they came to South Africa seeking better opportunities and safety. Others described the experience as traumatic, especially for children forced to sleep outside in freezing temperatures.

Residents in the area remain divided, with some calling for calm and unity, while others continue voicing frustrations over crime, unemployment, and undocumented immigration.

Police have urged communities not to take the law into their own hands and warned that anyone involved in violence, intimidation, or destruction of property could face arrest.

The situation remains tense as authorities continue monitoring affected areas and trying to prevent further unrest.
