Family Seeks Answers Regarding The Death Of Their Son
THE family of a bus conductor, who was reported to have died after being hit by a trailer of a kombi along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway, is demanding answers on what really transpired.
There are many questions, and theories, which are emerging over the cause of the death.
The initial reports were that Leo Tinashe Masocha
was hit by a trailer and died on the spot.
There were claims that he was drunk.
However, the family is saying the statements by the driver and the police are contradictory and this is raising suspicion that there is something fishy which happened on that tragic night.
The incident happened on July 1, at around 10, am at the 60 km peg along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
He was buried four days later, in Chivi.
The family is saying it was not a kombi, but a bus, which was involved in the tragedy.
Police confirmed that Masocha was drunk on the day the incident occurred.
His mother, Miriam Zimondi, said:
“The driver said Tinashe died at the hospital after he was hit by a car while police indicated that he died on the spot after a hit-and-run accident.
“The statements are contradicting, why was our son not taken for post-mortem?
“We have no money, tiri varombo. Mutumbi wakanzi ngauuye utorwe usina kuenda ku post-mortem.
“We have so many questions and it’s affecting us, we are pained as a family.
“The driver is saying a different story, achiti mwana wedu akatsikwa nepick-up yanga iri kumashure asi haina kumira.
“The driver is saying akafira kuchipatara but police are saying akafira pa spot.
“We are no longer sure, there was blood in the bus and the blood was removed at the police station.
“The driver is saying haana kutsika munhu.”
She added:
“It is said, the driver took the body to the police.
“Hembe dzake dzimwe dzanga dzakasara mubhazi hatizive kuti vakadziisa kupi?
“The bus owner paid R5000 for funeral arrangements.
“It is said, munhu akarohwa nemota, while vamwe vari kuti akarohwa netrailer. Driver nevamwe vakauya paburial vakauya vachikumbira kugezerwa ropa raiva mubhazi.
“He was born 5 August in 2001 but they are saying kuti aive ne21 years yet aiva ne 23 years.
“Inini ndiri kuda kuziva kuti mwana akafa nei, if it’s possible potoitwa exhumation, poitwa post-mortem.”
