WATCH VIDEO HERE BELOW: South African man from Limpopo escorted his wife

A South African man from Limpopo has come under the spotlight after word — and a shocking video — surfaced online showing him escorting his wife to what he believed was a legitimate modelling interview at African Casting.

Instead, the interview allegedly ended in a deeply controversial situation in which the interviewer slept with the woman who had come seeking a modelling opportunity. The incident has sparked widespread debate across social media, leaving many people stunned and asking the same question: why would a husband personally escort his wife to such an interview?

The video, which has been circulating rapidly across various online platforms, appears to show the couple arriving together for the interview conducted by a man identified as Mr. Ivoo, who is said to be associated with African Casting. What many viewers found even more disturbing is that the husband reportedly remained present during parts of the interview process.

Authorities, including the South African Police Service (SAPS), have previously issued warnings about suspicious “modelling interviews” linked to certain casting operations, cautioning aspiring models to be careful of schemes that exploit vulnerable individuals looking for opportunities in the entertainment industry.

When questioned about the incident, the husband — identified as Baba Gumede — spoke openly about the circumstances that led to the decision. According to him, desperation and poverty pushed the couple into accepting the unusual arrangement. Gumede revealed that they were paid R15,000 for the interview, with an additional R5,000 reportedly given because he was present during the session. Speaking with visible regret, he admitted that the decision continues to weigh heavily on his conscience.

“It breaks my heart,” Gumede said during the interview. “But we are struggling. Sometimes poverty makes you agree to things you would never imagine doing.” He explained that he still deeply loves his wife and that their decision was not made lightly. According to him, they believed the interview would remain strictly private and would only be seen by a small group of producers evaluating potential models.

Gumede says the situation took a devastating turn when the footage unexpectedly appeared on public platforms and began spreading online. The clip quickly went viral, drawing harsh criticism and ridicule from viewers across the country. “I was shocked when I saw it online,” he explained. “We were told it was only for the eyes of the producers. Now the whole world is watching.”

The father says the viral attention has made life extremely difficult for him and his family. He admitted that he now struggles to face relatives and neighbours who have seen the video circulating online. The situation has been particularly painful when it comes to his stepdaughters, whom he says he worries about the most as the story continues to gain attention.

The family currently lives in Soweto, where the controversy has reportedly drawn intense scrutiny from people in their community. Gumede says he fears the emotional impact the scandal could have on the two young daughters in the household, who may eventually learn about the situation through the same social media platforms that spread the video.

Adding another layer to the story is the role Gumede played during the interview itself. In the video, he can reportedly be seen helping translate and explain the interviewer’s instructions to his wife, who struggled to fully understand English. Acting as an interpreter, he relayed what Mr. Ivoo was saying, believing that the interview was simply part of a private casting process.

Now, with the footage circulating widely online and drawing national attention, the incident has ignited a broader conversation about exploitation, poverty, and the risks associated with suspicious modelling opportunities. Authorities have once again urged aspiring models and job seekers to verify the legitimacy of casting agencies before attending interviews.

As the debate continues, many viewers remain divided — some expressing sympathy for a family pushed to desperate measures by financial hardship, while others question the judgment behind agreeing to such an arrangement in the first place.
