In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Gumede spoke about his health struggles and announced the launch of a fundraising page to help with mounting medical and living expenses.
Gumede explained that supportive messages from fans mean the world to him, but after being encouraged by a close friend, he set up a GoGetFunding page for those who wish to contribute financially. “Sending messages for me is also really good. It’s more than enough. But if you would like to make a financial donation, I’ve opened a page… Thank you everyone,” he said. He further revealed that he has been diagnosed with stage 3 choriocarcinoma, a rare but chemo-responsive cancer, which has already spread to his lymph nodes, lungs, spine, and diaphragm.
So far, the fundraising campaign has raised $1,981 (R35,024) of its $25,000 (R442,000) goal, with contributions from 92 donors. Gumede admitted that although his medical aid has helped cover treatments, his savings are depleting and the road ahead remains financially overwhelming. Despite the challenges, he remains hopeful, urging fans and supporters to help in any way they can: “Any donation will help me stay strong through treatment, cover living and recovery costs, and return to acting and sharing stories that inspire and connect.”

Minimum Requirements

- Grade 12 (Matric or Senior Certificate).
- 0–6 months of retail experience.
- Advantageous:
- 1 year of retail work experience.

Key Responsibilities
As a Cosmetic Frontshop Assistant, you will:
- Maintain fully stocked, neatly presented shelves, ensuring proper stock rotation and monitoring of expiry dates.
- Address customer queries about out-of-stock items promptly and professionally.
- Verify product labels, displays, and prices for accuracy.
- Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and tidy.
- Stay informed about new cosmetic product ranges to assist customers effectively.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses and damages.
- Process customer transactions (cash, card, vouchers, loyalty cards) accurately.
- Manage returns, exchanges, and refunds in line with company policies.
