Police have confirmed a breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Nigerian student and e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat in Pretoria West.

A female suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing, which occurred on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. Authorities say more arrests are imminent as investigations continue.

According to preliminary findings, the 22-year-old victim was allegedly attacked by a male and female who had requested his services through an e-hailing platform in Pretoria West. The situation reportedly turned violent while Isaac was still inside the vehicle.

Later that same day, both the hijacked vehicle and Isaac’s body were discovered in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria. The discovery sparked widespread outrage on social media and renewed concerns about the safety of e-hailing drivers operating in high-risk areas.
Police have not yet released full details of how the suspect was tracked down, but they confirmed that investigations moved swiftly following the circulation of dashcam footage believed to have captured part of the incident. Law enforcement officials have reiterated their call for the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and instead provide credible leads directly to investigators.
The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February 2026. She will face charges including car hijacking and murder.

Meanwhile, authorities say they are actively pursuing the male suspect believed to have been involved in the attack. “More arrests are imminent,” police stated, signalling that the case is far from over.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has drawn attention both locally and internationally. Isaac, who was due to graduate next month and had plans to further his studies in Canada, was described by friends and family as hardworking and focused on his future.
Community leaders and advocacy groups have welcomed the arrest but emphasised that the legal process must now run its course. They have also reiterated calls for improved safety measures to protect e-hailing drivers, many of whom operate alone and face unpredictable risks daily.
As the case heads to court, the focus now shifts to ensuring that justice is served through the proper legal channels. For Isaac’s grieving family, the arrest offers a step forward — but it does not erase the painful loss of a young life that was only just beginning to unfold.
