Alick Macheso Suspends Zimbabwe Shows: Here’s Where He’ll Be Performing

In a move that may surprise some of his devoted Zimbabwean fans, renowned Sungura musician Alick Macheso has announced that he will be suspending his performances in the country until the release of his highly anticipated new album.

Macheso is set to launch his latest offering on August 2nd at the Alex Sports Club in Harare. As reported by H-Metro, the artist has decided to turn down all local bookings to focus on perfecting the new album.

Macheso’s publicist, Tich Makahamadze, confirmed the news, stating,

“Yes, we will not perform in Zimbabwe until our album launch. Our next show in Zimbabwe is on August 2, which is our album launch at Alex Sports Club in Harare.”

The Sungura giant has, however, agreed to make an appearance at a festival in South Africa, where he will be sharing the stage with rising star, Mark Ngwazi.

Postponed Album Release

Macheso initially planned to release the album on June 7th, but the launch was postponed to August 2nd to coincide with the warmer outdoor temperatures. In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the artist explained that the decision was made in response to feedback from his fans, who expressed concerns about the typically chilly weather experienced in Zimbabwe during June.

“Originally slated for the 7th of June, the event will now take place on the 2nd of August. This decision comes after careful consideration and in response to feedback from our fans. There have been concerns about the weather, as June is a very cold month and having the launch in August, with warmer temperatures, allows our fans to fully enjoy this momentous occasion. The venue remains the same, “Alex Sports Club,” an outdoor arena which is not best in cold weather of June.”
